The National Breast Imaging Academy hosted its Mammography Update Study Day on Thursday 15th May 2025. The study day is designed to support the ongoing professional development of mammographers, radiographers, assistant practitioners and mammography associates working within breast cancer services.
Once again, the study day attracted widespread interest with professionals registered from NHS trusts across the country.
This year’s programme brought together expert speakers from clinical practice, research and education to explore key themes in breast imaging, including:
- Advances in research and treatment
- The history of breast cancer
- Breast screening past, present and future
- Understanding breast density
- Ergonomics and wellbeing
- A personal experience of volunteering abroad
- An update on the ACCEND programme – supporting personalised career pathways in cancer care.
The day concluded with a Q&A session, giving attendees the opportunity to share reflections and ask questions.
The study day is designed to support Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and is CPD Now accredited. The content is relevant for both early-career professionals and experienced practitioners looking to refresh their knowledge or explore new areas.
Lyndsay Kinnear, NBIA Radiography Lead and Training & Education Lead (Mammography) at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, said:
“It’s great to see the extent of national interest in this study day. We’re proud to offer a course that combines expert knowledge with practical insight and a strong focus on staff wellbeing.”
