The NBIA is looking forward to meeting delegates at the British Society of Breast Radiology’s (BSBR) Annual Scientific Meeting being held in Liverpool on 3-5 November 2024. The Meeting, with its focus on radiological matters related to breast disease and breast screening, is a significant event for breast imaging specialists nationwide.

The NBIA’s stand in the exhibition hall will allow delegates to meet our Programme Team and find out more about our ongoing work to address the severe workforce shortages faced by breast imaging services across the country.

Commenting on the event, Dr Mary Wilson said: “We look forward to meeting delegates from across the country, getting to understand their workforce challenges and seeing how our programmes may be able to help them deliver their breast screening or symptomatic service.”

The NBIA is at the forefront of initiatives aimed at boosting the number and skillset of breast imaging specialists. Our programmes include:

  • Fellowship Programme: training for aspiring breast radiologists, developing the leaders, educators and researchers of the future.
  • Breast Clinician Credential: developed in partnership with the Royal College of Radiologists offering a nationally recognised training pathway for breast clinicians working in breast screening and symptomatic services.
  • Mammography Associate Apprenticeships:
  • a level 4 apprenticeship providing standardised training and assessment for mammographers undertaking routine 2-view mammography in symptomatic and screening service
  • a new level 5 Level 5 Assistant Practitioner foundation degree apprenticeship, specialising in mammography (commencing in January 2025) to support experienced assistant practitioners and mammography associates develop their skills and knowledge in breast imaging, offering new potential for career progression.
  • NBIA Academy Online: a national online learning hub developed by and for the breast imaging community.

If you are attending the event, do come and meet us at our stand in the exhibition hall.
